Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra battery capacity boost to be minimal as S23+ cell size supposedly confirmed

New Samsung Galaxy S23 series rumors have suggested that the battery capacities for the upcoming three premium smartphones may not be what fans had hoped for. Apparently, the figure has been confirmed for the Galaxy S23+ model, while the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Ultra battery capacities will only be slightly larger than their S22 counterparts.

ack in April, there were some suggestions that the Galaxy S23 series would be blessed with considerable battery capacity upgrades. It seemed possible that the regular Galaxy S23 would receive a 4,500-mAh unit, the Galaxy S23+ would get a 5,000-mAh battery, and the high-end Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra would boast of having a 5,500-mAh capacity cell. However, a recent post by a leaker has offered up some more down-to-earth figures for the Galaxy S23 series.

It has been claimed by @TheGalox_ that the Samsung Galaxy S23+ battery capacity has already been confirmed at 4,700 mAh. While this is obviously not as battery-life-extending as a 5,000-mAh unit would be, it’s still a slight improvement over the Galaxy S22+ with its 4,500-mAh battery. If the claim is true, then it would mean a paltry 4.44% capacity boost for the Plus variant of the Samsung Galaxy S23 over its predecessor.

This latest rumor, depending on how you feel about larger batteries vs. overall smartphone size, isn’t particularly promising for the regular S23 or the S23 Ultra either. The same source suggests that they "could have a 5% bigger battery", which would leave the Galaxy S23’s battery on somewhere around 3,885 mAh (Galaxy S22: 3,700 mAh) while the Galaxy S23 Ultra would be fitted with a 5,250-mAh cell (Galaxy S22 Ultra: 5,000 mAh).
